In the previous message, I went over how I finally understood the negative consequences of procrastination.
Once I understood the why, I had to gain an understanding of the reasons behind people’s tendencies to procrastinate.
After much soul-searching – and looking at my own history of putting things off – I discovered three major reasons people procrastinate.
See if you can relate to any of these – I know I did!
HERE’s THE FIRST REASON…
1. SELF PERCEPTION
No matter how much we believe in ourselves, one little thing can throw us off track and make us doubt who we really are and what we’re capable of.
When I was young, I always wanted to be in a creative art. MUSIC was an early passion.
I let someone convince me with a few words that it wouldn’t pay off and that I couldn’t do it.
From that day forward I shrunk away from my creativity and focused on books.
I PROCRASTINATED in other creative areas that I was strong in too – like writing.
It took years for me to recapture who I really am and have a self perception that worked. I was afraid who I was — was not enough.
It’s bad enough to have a low or confused perception of oneself but when you couple that with fear it makes it easy to procrastinate. Fear comes in so many modalities.
- Fear of being right
- Fear of being wrong
- Fear of success
- Fear of failure
No matter how you look at it, we can find reasons to fear what’s to come. The real question is what’s behind the fear and how do you break it so that it stops being the barrier that throws you in the PROCRASTINATION PIT.
3. NO BLUEPRINT OR INSTRUCTIONS
Many times if I just had some simple instructions, I wouldn’t put things off. I realized that many of us just don’t know how to start the process of finishing.
I’ve been lost so many times and in the PROCRASTINATION PIT because I didn’t know where to go with what I had. Not knowing what direction to begin makes it very easy to just sit still.
If you have experienced any of these PROCRASTINATION excuses you’re not alone.
More than a quarter of the American population admits to procrastination and the truth of the matter is, studies show that EVERYONE procrastinates.
But, some of us get STUCK in the PROCRASTINATION PIT. That means we procrastinate longer than we should.
I took years of learning to figure out my starting and stopping of procrastination. I landed in that pit way too many times – just as recent as this year!
This time I said NO MORE!
And, I want to help you. I don’t want you to go through what I did to learn how to stop procrastinating and stay out of the procrastination pit.
As my big thank you for allowing me into your mail box, I’ve developed a FREE PROCRASTINATION PROOF tool to keep you out of the PROCRASTINATION PIT and on the road to success.
In the next email I’ll give you all the details. Be on the look out AND DON’T DELAY IN READING!!
